Why Address Diversity and Equality issues in Early Childhood in Ireland?

Children become aware of the positive and negative attitudes to difference through family, friends, media and society at an early age and this impacts on their development. All children have a right to develop in contexts where there is equality and respect for diversity. Recognising, embracing and understanding equality and diversity in ECEC is essential to the development of civil society. The evaluation outcomes of the Pre-school Education Initiative for Children from Minority Groups (2011-2012) supports the need to address diversity and equality: an Anti-Bias Approach in ECEC settings.
